Ballroom & Latin Dancing in Long Island, New York

Learn how to dance Latin or Ballroom at Silva Dance Academy in Rockville Centre, New York. Here you will find everything you need to know how to dance ballroom style. We will teach you International or American styles. If you never dance before, you will start at the beginning level. If you looking for coaching lessons on the highest level of DanceSport, then come here as well for our advanced level.

It doesn't matter if you have a partner or not, and what your goal is and how much time you can commit to your training. We are here seven days a week for group and private lessons as well as our weekly socials/practice sessions. Our 2,100sqf dance floor is large enough to practice competitive routines and enjoy parties without being crowded .

BEGINNER LEVEL CLASSES

WEDNESDAY 8:30-10:00 PM - Social Dance (American Style) Ballroom & Latin
This class is great for beginners who have never taken formal dance lessons and who wants to learn for socials reasons, club dancing, weddings and other occasions or just for fun. Salsa is taught every week as a major dance. Second dance changes every month. Merengue, Hustle, Swing, Foxtrot & Tango are also taught in this class.

TUESDAY 7:30-08:30 PM - International Style Basic Ballroom/ Latin Combination Class
This class is good for beginners in International Style. Combination of one Latin & one Ballroom dance is taught. Dances changes monthly. Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Jive, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango & Quickstep are taught.

FRIDAY 7:30-9:00 PM - Social Dance Beginner 2
This class is second level of our Wednesday Social Dance class.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL CLASSES

MONDAY 8:30-10:00 PM - Social Dance (American Style) Ballroom & Latin
This class is the next level of our Social Dance Wednesday & Friday classes. The same dances are taught plus West Coast Swing & Argentine Swing.

TUESDAY 8:30-10:00 PM - International Ballroom - Bronze, Silver & Gold

ADVANCED LEVEL CLASSES

TUESDAY 8:30-10:00 PM - International Ballroom - Open Patterns & Variations
This is an Open Patterns Class. In this class owners of the Silva Dance Academy - Mark Barth and Gwen Silva who both hold a Fellowship and Licentiate degrees in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in Ballroom and Latin teach advanced, out-of-syllabus patterns. Only one dance is taught during the month.

WEDNESDAY 8:30-10:00 PM - International Latin - Open Patterns & Variations
If you are interested in learning the International Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble or Jive this class is for you. In this class you will also learn one dance per month. You will learn Bronze, Silver and Gold steps as well as Open advanced combinations in the International syllabus. There is an emphasis on Latin technique leg action, and also use of hands and arms.

SATURDAY 8:00-9:00 PM - International Ballroom - Open Patterns & Variations
Advanced Open Variations are taught, for those students who have gone through their Syllabus work and are ready to attempt open work. Mark and Gwen teach this class, and guide the students through the variations by demonstrating the patterns during the instruction.

Every weekend on Friday and Saturday all year 'round. Call our studio at 516-764-0701 for rates. Our weekly socials are known for their friendly atmosphere. Whether you are beginners or advanced dancer, you will find dance partners at the Silva Dance Academy. We play all Ballroom and Latin music for International and American style dancing and we have always new music With our 15,000 plus selection of songs you will never get bored. We play all dances: Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Salsa, Merengue, Rumba, Cha Cha. Samba, Jive, Swing, West Coast Swing and Hustle. Refreshments are free including: fruit tray, cheese tray ,coffee, tee and snacks, and cookie tray. You don't need to come with a partner and you don't need to register, just show up!
